PSP IDs human remains as Alexandria man who threatened, fled from police earlier this year

UPDATE |

State police in Huntingdon County have identified the human remains found in Morris Township as Jedediah Rawlings, an Alexandria man who fled from troopers earlier this year after threatening police with knives.

In late January, troopers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on Rawlings' vehicle, at which time he reportedly led police on a pursuit.

During the chase, authorities say Rawlings stopped in a parking lot where he threatened two troopers with knives before getting back into his vehicle.

Police eventually located Rawlings' vehicle but were unable to find him.

Investigators say on Thursday, Sept. 21, troopers were contacted after human remains were found in a wooded area in Morris Township.

Police say the clothing found with the remains matched the last known description of Rawlings.

The remains have been positively identified as Rawlings and his cause of death is still under investigation.
